StarShine Magazine had the pleasure of attending the Dorough Lupus Foundation's charity event in New York City on October 21, 2006. The event was open to the elite ticket holders who opened their wallets for a good cause. The Dorough Lupus Foundation was formed in 1998 by Howie Dorough and his family after the loss of his sister, Caroline, to the disease.

Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough's third annual Lupus Cruise to benefit his Dorough Lupus Foundation sets sail from Miami on Sunday (December 15) for a seven-day adventure aboard the Carnival Victory. Dorough, his sister Pollyanna, and the rest of his family will be on board as the Victory visits ports in the Eastern Caribbean, including San Juan, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas.

Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough, a.k.a. Howie D, and his sister Angie Herring, visited the Arthritis Foundation National Office on September 17, 2002, to present a check for $165,000 dedicated to lupus research.

Most of the world knows Howard Dorough as Howie D., a member of a pop group, the Backstreet Boys.
But residents in the Orlando area know him as much more, WESH NewsChannel 2 reported Wednesday.
The Dorough Family Lupus Foundation gives away tens of thousands of dollars for lupus treatment and research. The foundation was set up in his sister's memory.Dorough was selected to run with the Olympic torch through Orlando, and he was chosen as this week's WESH Hometown Hero.
