From the first financial gift presented in February of 2001, the Dorough Lupus Foundation has provided funding for lupus research and for progressive projects in lupus education, awareness and assistance to lupus sufferers.

The Dorough Lupus Foundation continues striving to be a leader in the fight against lupus.

2003 Research Grants & Gifts
January: A $30,000 grant was presented to Dr. Bev Hahns at UCLA for Lupus Research. The Dorough Lupus Foundation awarded $135,000 to Dr. Hahn in 2001, making the grand total awarded to date $165,000.

2002 Research Grants & Gifts
September: A $165,000 research grant was presented to the Arthritis Foundation for Lupus Research.

2001 Research Grants & Gifts
February: A $19,000 (USD) gift was presented to the Palliative Care Suite at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance-Public General Hospital Campus, Chatham, ON, Canada. The donated funds helped equip a room allowing dying patients to spend their last days in grace and dignity. It also benefits the families who can tend to and grieve for their loved ones in private. Completion for this room was in the fall of 2001, with a private dedication ceremony following shortly after.

March 2001: A $135,000 research grant was awarded to Dr. Bev Hahns at the Lupus Research Clinic, UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA, USA. This grant has assisted in the advancement of the departments lupus gene therapy research program, provided much needed lab equipment and the hiring of an additional researcher.

July: A $15,000 gift was presented to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Department at the Puerto Rican General Hospital, Puerto Rico, USA. The Funds were given to specifically assist those individuals living with lupus who cannot afford treatment in that impoverished country.

ALL
requests for Grants and /or Funding from the Dorough Lupus Foundation MUST be initially presented in writing for consideration by the Dorough Lupus Foundation Board of Directors.  If the Dorough Lupus Foundation Board of Directors deems the request appropriate for further consideration and in-depth analysis, a complete Dorough Lupus Foundation Grant & Funding Package (including all forms to be completed by the requestor) will be mailed the physical mailing address provided by the requestor in the initial proposal presented to the Dorough Lupus Foundation Board of Directors.

This process MUST be followed without exception or your proposal will be automatically refused for consideration!  The initial proposal may be either mailed into the DLF Headquarters or e-mailed to the link below.  Please ensure any/all requests made fall specifically within the guidelines established by Dorough Lupus Foundation Board of Directors.  The Dorough Lupus Foundation will ONLY consider requests which provide financial assistance for those organizations assisting individuals living with the disease LUPUS who can not afford treatment and / or research related specifically for LUPUS.  

We Thank You in advance for your cooperation and look forward to reviewing and considering your request.  Please be aware that we receive numerous requests, therefore, please allow up to Eight (8) weeks for a written response from the Dorough Lupus Foundation Board of Directors.  While most if not all requests are worthwhile, please understand that the Dorough Lupus Foundation Board of Directors is unable to Grant a funding allocation for all requests, however all requests and initiatives towards aiding and / or seeking a cure for LUPUS are applauded and praised by the Dorough Lupus Foundation Board of Directors.
